The EqualityMaine Network for Older Adults (formerly SAGE Maine, an affiliate of SAGE USA) is a program of EqualityMaine.nIn November 2019, the Network for Older Adults (or NOA) joined with EqualityMaine to ensure the longevity and sustainability of our programs.

The Network for Older Adults’ primary focus is to support and advocate on behalf of the older adults in our community. In the past, NOA’s wonderful volunteers have run monthly dinners, movie nights, ukulele groups, and more! They also provided resources for older adults across the state in need of support and community.

Much of NOA’s programming is currently virtual, though in person activities are also returning. A list of regularly occurring programs includes:

• The NOA Speaker Series: Open to anyone across the state, this series features speakers tackling various topics on Zoom. It meets on the second Friday of each month at 1 p.m.

• NOA Virtual Happy Hours : Join this casual statewide get-together hosted by community members! Bring your own drink, whether that’s a cocktail, coffee, or water. These are on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

• NOA Meet and Greets: These events are a great way for the local Bangor and Arooostook communities to stay connected via Zoom. The Bangor group meets on the fourth Friday of each month, while Aroostook meets on the third Saturday.

• EqualityMaine Calling Program: This intergenerational volunteer opportunity makes regular phone calls to members of our Network for Older Adults. These check ins are great ways to combat loneliness and learn about new programs!

• NOA Portland Dinners: These community meals are offered each third Thursday in Portland, ME at the Equality Community Center. Through a partnership with Southern Maine Agency on Aging and a generous donation from AARP, there is no cost to our NOA participants!
